FLOCK – A new step into the future of browsing

flock.jpgPersonally, i use Mozilla Firefox for about 2 years. It’s good, it’s safe, it’s user friendly and above all, it’s customizable. You can turn Firefox in anything you like, there are thousands of add-ons and plugins and most of them work good. Recently i discovered a new browser, a new step into the future of internet browsing. Yes, it’s the brand new Flock 1.0, a Firefox based browser designed especially for social networking. Let’s why is it good and why not, why shoul you install it and why not.

Install

First of all, you have to download the installer from the official web page (http://www.flock.com/). You wiil find there builds for Linux, Windows and Apple. One of the interesting facts that got my attentions is that during the installation, Flock is able to import bookmarks, password and even cookies from Firefox or IE.

Interface and functions

If you are a Firefox user than there will be no problems. Although the view is different, Flock’s interface is at it’s base, very much like Firefox. There are a few changes though, the theme is different, the add-ons are not compatible with Firefox and yet, there is the “social feature”, the ability interact with popular social networking web services as Flickr, Del.icio.us, Technorati, Photobucket, and various popular blogging and news aggregation services.

Weird! What motivated you to write this. Somehow this reminded me of a antispyware program I bought yesterday….
